We're a volunteer-run group who maintain and enhance the green space of land called Beck Bottom in Hensingham, Whitehaven.
A few of us set up the group a couple of years ago to help tidy the green space up and we now meet every Saturday morning to garden.
Our aim is to make things better for everyone in our local community, whilst promoting horticultural education, physical and mental health through gardening.
We maintain and enhance the green space by planting and weeding flower beds, wildflower meadow areas, rose beds and trees. Generally helping to keep the area tidy including litter picking.
We all live locally and it's lovely to meet up every week, it gives us a great sense of achievement seeing the area look nice and we are receiving lots of comments from passers by saying how good it's looking now. We have had several new members join us this year but we would welcome more.
We meet on a Saturday morning between 10:00 and 12:00am and in the summer months on a Tuesday evening from 6:00pm.
